FOUND POETRY~ Found poetry is a type of poetry created by taking words, phrases, and sometimes whole passages from other sources and reframing them as poetry (a literary equivalent of a collage) by making changes in spacing and lines, or by adding or deleting text, thus imparting new meaning.
Students eliminate words on a random page of text to create new meaning. Art can be incorporated to add visual appeal. Here is the poem from this example: "Through the woods, I figure the morning mist takes awhile to scale the mountains." This is a great idea for students who find writing intimidating!
